<Poem>
寒雨連天夜入湖，
平明送客楚山孤。
洛陽親友如相問，
一片冰心在玉壺。

<Translation>
THE cold rain was all over the river and night had fallen as I entered Wu,
With to-day’s dawn I bid farewell to my friends, for I go to where the mountains of Ch‘u stand isolated against the sky.
If my friends at Loyang ask after me,
Tell them my heart is still a slice of ice in a jade bottle.
